Country House
Tourism in a Rural Setting - Alto-Minho, Portugal

ABOUT US
Situated on the hillside of Monte da Senhora da Pena and overlooking the valley of river Coura, the Casinha de Mozelos is the result of the reconstruction of a small rural stone house, typical of Alto-Minho. The house is implanted in a one hectare property that spreads out through several terraces. The reconstruction privileged the traditional architecture, including the wooden ceiling in the living room, a beautiful wood burning stove, interior white walls and the floor in Portuguese slate.
Outside a granite patio and a wooden deck serve as a viewpoint and lounge space with access to several gardens. The tranquil beauty of the gardens and the expansive views over the surrounding green nature make this place ideal for a quick weekend getaway or relaxing vacations.
There is also a biological swimming pool/pond where the waters are treated naturally (with no chemicals) and where you can enjoy swimming with a couple of frogs and water plants.

Paredes de Coura is a very rich council in terms of archaelogy; you can visit dolmens, castros and mamoas, walk along a roman road and bridge and see ancient milestones.
This roman road, along with the Romanic Church of Rubiães (Igreja Românica de Rubiães), is part of the Santiago's way (the caminho).
The people of Coura, the Courenses, are strongly connected to their land and that connection is represented by the "Eira Comunitária de Porreiras" still in use.
To grind the corn there are over eight hundred watermills, many of those still in use up to this day, particularly in Casaldate and Porreiras.

GUEST REVIEWS

The cottage is supper nice, pleasant and cozy. For us it mainly served as a starting point for the numerous spectacular hikes around the area. We leave knowing we will surely come again. Thank you so much for the warm welcoming!
